Plot
Nelly & Nadine is the unlikely love story of two women who fall in love on Christmas Eve 1944 in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. For many years, their relationship was kept secret. Nelly & Nadine (2022) is a documentary co-written and directed by Magnus Gertten.
The two women met and fell in love in the Ravensbrück concentration camp
After the German defeat, a ship full of women who had survived the concentration camps was taken to Sweden. Someone filmed the event, and director Gertten had previously identified two people in the film and made films about them. This is the third film and involves two women: Nelly Mousset Vos and Nadine Hwang.
They broke up, but both survived
Years later, Nelly’s niece contacted director Gertten, who made this meticulous documentary about a lesbian couple who traveled around the world to be together. Years later, Nelly’s niece contacted director Gertten, who made this meticulous documentary about a lesbian couple who traveled around the world to be together. I thought it was an excellent film and gave it a rating of 10. I saw this film as part of the larger ImageOut in Rochester, the LGBTQ Film Festival.
