Plot
After developing a mysterious connection with her dead best friend from the military, an Afghan veteran reunites with her Vietnam veteran grandfather at the family’s lake house. Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris previously starred together in Gone Baby. Gone (2007).. I attended the world premiere of this film at SXSW and was very impressed with the way this film dealt with mental health issues with dignity and humor. The performances were nothing short of exceptional, and the script was fresh and nuanced. For a director and screenwriter making their debut in this way, it’s truly incredible. I can’t wait for this film to hit theaters so I can watch it again. The writer/director dared to share her very personal story through the lens of two minority women. It was a very brave and rare move that should also be applauded because the execution is impeccable.
